This year Scenic America is a partner organization with the 2021 Visual Resource Stewardship Conference. The conference, hosted by the SUNY College of Environmental Science and Forestry and Utah State University’s department of Landscape Architecture and Environmental Planning, aims to foster innovation and connections between academia, practice, NGOs, and government agencies who work to address analysis, planning, valuation, design, and management of visual resources. The theme this year is exploring landscape as culture, resource, and home. Scenic America’s president, Mark Falzone, will be a plenary speaker at the conference, and Scenic America is hosting a conference panel discussion.
In past years, presenters shared case studies and technical papers on a variety of topics including the impacts of visual pollution, landscape policy, measuring scenic qualities, renewable energy as a positive landscape addition, and assessing scenic viewsheds. This year’s conference will include a series of workshops from experts on topics including monitoring trails, using GIS in visual impact assessments, and how to create 3D landscape visualizations.
The conference will from October 19 – 22, 2021 and will be held completely online. Conference registration is now open, please see the conference website for more information. 2021 Visual Resource Stewardship Conference | ESF Open Academy | ESF
