Job Description: Social Media Associate

Position is a 12-week part-time contract. 15-20 hours per week. $20-25/hr contract (1099) position. Pay will be based on experience.

Scenic Nevada is a nonpartisan, nonprofit organization dedicated to preserving, protecting, and enhancing the scenic character of Nevada. Founded in 2000 to combat the proliferation of billboards in Reno, Scenic Nevada has grown to become a statewide organization. We are an all-volunteer group of people working to protect the scenic beauty of Nevada’s majestic landscape as well as the scenic character of our communities. This includes billboard and sign control, protecting and supporting scenic byways, advocating for undergrounding power lines, and minimizing the impact of cell towers.

The Social Media Associate will manage Scenic Nevada’s social media accounts (Instagram and Facebook). This position requires someone with an eye for good visual content, an enthusiasm for sharing Scenic Nevada’s mission, and a strong perspective.

The Social Media Associate will:

• Plan and fill out the social media strategy and tactics
• Create and find content to post
• Propose ad-spending budgets and build audiences to engage
• Meet content delivery goals
• Map social media account networks in Scenic Nevada’s sphere of influence
• Meet weekly engagement metrics and track goals
• Provide regular updates to the Scenic Nevada board

Required Qualifications:

• Comfort working with Social Media platforms–especially Instagram and Facebook
• Willingness to learn
• Enthusiasm for Scenic Nevada’s mission and vision.
• Excellent communication and writing skills

Recommended Qualifications. Excellent candidates need not meet any or all qualifications below.

• Local Nevadan; Reno area preferred
• Previous experience working with Facebook Business Suite
• Previous experience running a Facebook or Instagram ad campaign
• Experience organizing for non-profits or political campaigns
