Scenic Walton is proud to present its Design Excellence Award to Reynolds Henderson of Henderson Barrett for his remarkable restoration of the CCB Bank Building on Baldwin Avenue in DeFuniak Springs, Florida. This award recognizes projects that embody thoughtful design, historical integrity, and community impact—and Henderson’s work on this landmark building exemplifies all three.

Transforming a complex, historical commercial structure into a vibrant and functional space is no small feat, but Henderson, a longtime supporter, investor and advocate for DeFuniak Springs, took on the challenge with vision and dedication. Working alongside local builder Paul Rushing, Henderson and a team of architects successfully executed a design that blends modern functionality with historical integrity. 

“The CCB Bank Building is a stunning example of what happens when smart design meets a deep appreciation for history,” said Leigh Moore, Executive Director of Scenic Walton. “Reynolds Henderson’s commitment to creating a space that honors the past while serving the future is exactly the kind of vision we celebrate with the Design Excellence Award.”

The building is also home to one of Walton County’s most treasured murals, a dynamic creation by renowned artist Nathan Brown. Known for his striking geometric designs, Brown’s mural transforms the building’s exterior into a work of art that connects the community to its shared spaces in an inspiring way.

Upon receiving the award, Henderson humbly turned the spotlight back to the community, stating, “I think all of our names should be on this award, because the people supporting each other in this town are the ones who deserve it the most.”
