Scenic Missouri President John R. Hock was elected to the national board of directors of Scenic America during its March 2022 board meeting.
After first becoming involved with Scenic Missouri in 2006, John’s connection to the organization expanded after he retired from a lengthy career at IBM in 2016. Today John is leading the charge as Scenic Missouri embarks on an ambitious agenda to grow its influence and activity throughout the Show-Me State. The organization is currently embarking on a new fundraising campaign, championing the creation of a new scenic byway connecting St. Louis and the Ozarks, and closely monitoring legislation with the potential to bring more billboards to Missouri roadways.
“John is passionate about scenic conservation and has proven this through years of caring for his community and environment. He recently took on the charge to re-invigorate our Scenic Missouri chapter and we look forward to him bringing a similar energy and enthusiasm to our work on the national level,” said Scenic America President Mark Falzone.
John holds a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Missouri-Columbia and an MS in Computer Science from the University of Missouri-Rolla. Hock and his wife, Marilyn, live in Ballwin.
